Maintenance Worker

Position Overview

The Maintenance Worker will provide inspection to buildings and grounds in order to insure safe working and learning spaces for children and staff. The maintenance worker will repair and /or remove unsafe equipment. Report written or oral reports will be given to Center Director as to the needs or anticipated concerns of the center.

Key Responsibilities

  • Make routine inspections of the physical plant structures.
  • Make routine inspections of outdoor play equipment and outdoor play space.
  • Routine inspection of heating and cooling units.
  • Routine inspections of trap in the kitchen.
  • Clean trash cans and remove rubbish contained in it; replace trash bag.
  • Clean all bathroom to maintain the integrity of the center.
  • Perform necessary service / repair as indicated from routine inspections.
  • Scrape and paint walls, windowsills as indicated.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance service to heating.
  • Maintain appropriate water temperatures for classrooms, bathrooms and kitchen.
  • Put away all supplies after reconciling the order.
  • Requisition of need for building and ground supplies.
  • Replace, repair and / or clean floor coverings.
  • Sweep, clean and /or paint fire tower steps and landings.
  • Purchase required supplies and equipment with director’s approval.
  • Keep an inventory of buildings supplies and equipment.
  • Clean play space and rake the wood chips (if applicable).
  • Assemble equipment for classrooms and offices.
  • Clean the vents in the kitchen as well as floor space in the kitchen storage areas.Maintain appropriate temperatures in the classrooms by setting the gauges of the Trane Units and heater.
  • Make certain that all tools are properly housed, same applies for supplies.
  • Provide each classroom and other workers with supplies essential to their work spaces (tissues, wipes, plastic bags, etc.).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED required. You will also need to possess the following skills: Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, push machinery effectively and safely use cleaning products.
